MAP Testing

MAP Growth Tests

Children learn better—and faster—when teachers have a clear picture of what each student knows and is ready to learn next. That’s why Bath Elementary School is using MAP NWEA testing this year to monitor what students know, regardless of their grade level.

For more information on the test, which will be administered 3 times this year, please visit the MAP Family Tool kit.

We will test your child to monitor growth and instructional levels in the fall, winter, and spring. The fall testing window is is typically within the first two weeks of school. There will be one day for math and one day for language arts. Mrs. Hetman will send a REMIND notification to give you specific dates. (To sign up for REMIND notifications, please text @hetman2 to 81010)

What can you do to prepare?

The MAP Growth test is a computer-adaptive test used to drive instruction in the classroom. That means if your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. This type of assessment challenges top performers without overwhelming students whose skills are below grade level. This adaptive process also means your child cannot get 100%, and there is no way to prepare for all of the questions.

If you would still like to practice at home, you can! In fact, it may help your child to see that the MAP Growth tests include multiple-choice, drag-and-drop, and other types of questions. To view the sample tests, please visit the Student Resources page and select Practice Test.

Otherwise, the best recommendations we can make to prepare your child include:
1) Make sure your child gets a good night sleep
2) Offer your child a good, healthy breakfast
3) Remind your child to try their best but not to stress
