It finally looks like winter outside! How exciting!! Please encourage your kids to bring snow gear to school if it lasts through tomorrow. They can keep it in their lockers and gear up before lunch and recess. Their boots, once wet, will stay outside our classroom. Please let your child know if they need to bring the gear home daily or keep it at school.

Tomorrow we start the Winter MAP testing. Please ensure your children get to bed early tonight and have a good breakfast. Monday will be the reading test, and Tuesday will be the math test. We will give the children the morning to take the test and resume our regular schedule in the afternoons. We appreciate your support in ensuring the children are well-rested and have healthy snacks on these a-typical days.

In language arts this week, we will continue to read Because of Winn Dixie. The students have been doing an excellent job on their reading journals, and we will continue with the Chapter 16 - 18 journal this week. In math, we started geometry. The class learned how to identify and name lines and angles last week. This week, we will use our protractors to measure and draw angles. Fourth graders love it! Please check in with them to make sure they still have their protractor at school.

Finally, you may have already seen the email from Lauren and Lindy, our room parents. We are already thinking about Valentine's Day! I will talk to the children this week about making their Valentine's boxes and bringing in their valentines on Tuesday, February 14th. In addition to that exchange, we are also looking for some snacks and items for games. You can sign up here, if you can help.  Please drop off items for the party anytime after February 10th. Your child can bring them in, or you can drop off items in the office with "Room 111" on them.  Thank you so much!!
