Five days of family, Christmas movies, crafting, eating, and napping. I needed that! And, so far, at least no jury duty! I am ready for a good week ahead with my students!
Before the Thanksgiving break, we were very busy! We had fun with a team-building activity (marker marionette), and we finished floats during IE for our parade tomorrow. I will be taking pictures of it; make sure you check out the creations on my Twitter feed! We also finished up Sign of the Beaver and started a unit on Animals Through Time in Science. I honestly cannot believe we accomplished so much in a short week! This week we will continue with our science unit, exploring how remains could end up in a watery cave. We will take a break from our module to do another Skype with a Scientist session. This time, we have a geologist that will be joining us on a video call. She is from Oregon and studies glaciers, rocks, and oceans. I am looking forward to the class being able to learn from her and ask her questions. In language arts, we will take a break from novels and learn about pronouns and conjunctions. This comes as a follow-up to a writing activity we did over the last two weeks. The students did an outstanding job! (In fact, make sure you read what they would have made for Thanksgiving when the paper comes home tomorrow). Since we have such solid writing skills, we will use some grammar tools to make our writing more interesting. I have no doubt this class will impress me! I hope you had a great break yourself! Make sure you get the children to bed at their normal time tonight. And together, let's keep them focused so we can learn some fantastic things in the three weeks ahead before Winter Break! Upcoming Dates to Know: December 1 - Skype a Scientist December 2 - Girls' STEM Club December 2 - Mystery Location December 6 - PTA Holiday Shop December 16 - Girls' STEM Club December 20 - 31 - Winter Break
